General news

William did the last update so now its my turn. Firstly, the best news I have is that our little area of the Dordogne has at last moved into the 21st Century and I now have the luxury of Broadband.

Overall the weather has been good, with unseasonably warm temperatures and, as yet, no frosts - although the nights are now getting a bit colder. Fishing has been good with some nice fish coming out on all lakes, and even better, these fish are in excellent fighting condition.

Rouge

Over the last two weeks Rouge has produced ten thirty plus Carp with the biggest being 39lb 14oz. Its a shame a 3oz lead wasn't dropped into the weighsling to make it a forty but "honesty and integrity prevailed"! Catfish still continue to break tackle but Rouge has produced a giant cat which the anglers couldn't weigh as it bottomed scales at 85lbs. The Cats head was measured at 40cm. This must have been a massive catch - I have never seen a head that big on a cat!

Vert

As usual Vert is producing large numbers of both Cats and Carp with several cats over 30lb and loads of 20lb+ Carp - both mirrors and commons. Nobody leaves Vert unhappy with the fishing, it just entices them back to try for the bigger fish on Bleu and Rouge.

Bleu

As with my last update Bleu continues to surprise everyone with the quantity and quality of the fish. The red letter day was last wednesday when one lucky angler managed a lake record common of 34lb(weighed on two sets of scales) and also managed an 85lb Catfish followed by a 50lber the following morning. Yes you are right - he didn't need to use the boat to row his baits out after that, he just walked on the water.

Finally I have a request from you guys who have fished the lakes, now that I am on this wonderful broadband PLEASE PLEASE send me your photos so that we can put them on the website and you can have your 15 minutes of fame.

Tight Lines
John James
